Фондация "Зеленият Бургас" подпомага и подкрепя опазването на околната среда, съхраняването на природните ресурси и прилагането на принципите на устойчиво развитие в местен, национален и международен мащаб.





Дейността на Фондацията и насочена към повишаване знанието и компетентността както на експертите еколози, работещи в държавни и общински организации и институции, промишленост, обществени организации, така и на подрастващите и обществеността като цяло.



Управително тяло на Фондацията е Управителния Съвет, който одобрява бизнес план, бюджет, програма за работа, технически и финансов годишен отчет и др. УС избира Управленски Екип, който взема решения свързани с текущата работа на Фондацията. УС избира и Директор, който отговаря за оптималното функциониране на Фондацията и постигането на целите й.
 
Organization Targets
Основни цели на фондацията съгласно устава й са:

- Да повишава екологичното съзнание и осведоменост на обществеността, учащите се, властите и частните предприятия.

- Да подпомага властите и промишлеността в процеса на преход и изпълнение на европейските екологични директиви и норми.

- Да провежда консултации за държавни, частни предприятия и власти в областта на общия мениджмънт, екологичен мениджмънт, екологични технологии и опазване на околната среда.

Description:
Общата цел на нашия проект е достигането на балансирано устойчиво развитие, изградено на базата на ключови силни страни на българо-турското трансгранично сътрудничество като принос на задълбоченото европейско коопериране и интегритет.
Специфичната цел на проекта е да подобри общото социално развитие и да допринесе за социалното сближаване на младите хора, техните преподаватели и родители от двете страни на трансграничния регион, като в резултата на това се укрепят връзките между училищата, общините и държавните институции.
За да постигне тези цели, нашият проект се фокусира в създаването на институционални връзки за по-нататъшни трансгранични дейности и за развитие на капацитети по тези практики.Тези връзки се изразяват в засиленото сътрудничество и комуникация между училищата, областните управи на Бургас и Узункопрю, държавните институции за образование, опазване на околната среда, общините, бизнеса и университетите и НПО.През време на реализирането на проекта Фондация „Зеленият Бургас” идентифицира нови направления за съвместна работа и подготви три проектни предложения, с които кандидатства за финансиране пред УО на Програмата за трасгранично сътрудничество България Турция с партньори от гр.Узункопрю в областта на иновациите, усъвършенстване на демокрацията и участие на обществеността в управлението и интегрирането на деца със специални нужди от началните училища на Бургас и Узункопрю. Обмениха се гостувания на бизнес делегации от двата града, инициирани от Фондация „Зеленият Бургас”.В това се изразява добавената стойност на проекта за трансграничното сътрудничество.

History

1999-2001 Bulgarian-Dutch Project ”Development of Waste Management Strategy for Port of Bourgas”, financed by Dutch Ministry of Economy.

The partners are: Ministry of Transport, Port of Bourgas, Municipality of Bourgas, IWACO -Rotterdam, DCMR-Rotterdam, Haskoning, ATM.

The aims of this project are development of a waste management strategy for the Port of Bourgas, improvement of experience and knowledge of Bulgarian institutions and experts, establishment of a pilot bilge waste water treatment station. The Foundation acted as a local consultant and coordinator of this project.

Within the framework of Project the Foundation organized an international seminar for Waste Management in Black Sea Ports.



1999-2001 Project “Extraction and Utilisation of Biogas at Bratovo landfill”, financed by the Ecolinks Program, USAID. The partners are Municipality of Bourgas , Greener Bourgas Foundation, Brown Vence Associated Inc.USA. The aim of this project is the implementation of an efficient, environmental system for biogas extraction and utilization. The project will convert a significant source of pollution into useful electric and heat energy. The project is a Pilot for Bulgaria.



2000 ”Urban indicators for sustainable development” within the framework of the program “Global Urban Network” by the United Nations Commission on Human Settlements.

The Foundation Greener Bourgas selected processed and analyzed the statistic information concerning the social, economic and environmental situation in the Municipality of Bourgas. The Report Urban Indicators for Sustainable Development was publicized on the Internet.



2000 –2001 “Co-generation and energy efficiency program for Toplofikatcia Bourgas”-financed by the Ecolinks Program of USAID. The partners are Smyser Associated, Toplofikatcia Bourgas and Greener Bourgas Foundation. The aim of the project is to assist the company in the elaboration and implementation of an effective program for energy efficiency and environmental improvements.



05/2000 The Greener Bourgas Foundation organized the NATO Advanced Study Institute on “Risk Assessment Activities for the Cold War Facilities and Environmental Legacies”. More than 70 participants from all over the world were trained.



2000-2001”Implementation of a new equipment for the waste treatment”-financed by the Dutch Environmental Ministry. The Greener Bourgas Foundation is the local partner and consultant for this project.



2000-2001”Clean beaches, a first commitment for a sustainable tourism in Romanian and Bulgarian Black Sea Coastal Areas ”-under the Cooperative Environmental Project Grants of the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe. The partners are Greener Bourgas Foundation and Mare Nostrum, Constantza, Romania. The aim of this project is to facilitate the implementation of sustainable beach management in Romania and Bulgaria and to introduce measures for effective control and reduction of the beach pollution.



04/2001 – 12/2001”Partners for water protection and sustainable utilization ”. Financed by the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe. The aim of the project is to integrate the efforts of all parties concerned with water protection and sustainable utilization in Black Sea region.



06/2001 –12/2001”Development of a Hazardous Waste Management System on the Territory of the Municipality of Bourgas ” Financed by the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe. Greener Bourgas Foundation is an associated partner and consultant. The purpose of the project is development of an effective and active system for an integrated management of hazardous medical waste.



01/2002 “Strengthening Municipalities and Regional Capacity Project – Bulgaria”, financed by the British Know-How Fund. Greener Bourgas Foundation is a local consultant.



09/2002 – 06/2003 “Establishment of partnership for protection of Black Sea from nutrient pollution and introduction of sustainable agricultural practices” financed by the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe – Bulgaria. The project aims to strengthen the capacity of rural communities in the coastal watershed for introduction of environmentally sustainable agricultural practice and to establish the key stakeholders partnership for reduction of nutrient discharges in the Black Sea.



10/2002 – 10/2003 “Campaign for a living Black Sea (a joint program for prevention, reduction and control of nutrient pollution from agricultural activities)” - under the Cooperative Environmental Project Grants of the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe. The partners are Greener Bourgas Foundation and Mare Nostrum, Constantza, Romania. The project addresses the eutrophication of the Black Sea lakes and seawaters along its Romanian and Bulgarian coasts and the nitrate pollution of ground waters in the coastal areas.



10/2002 – 06/2003 “Campaign “Helping people to participate” financed by the Regional Environmental Center for Central and Eastern Europe under the Program “Support Developing Strategies for Implementation of the Aarhus Convention in SEE NGO”. The project aims to build capacity on local level and establish an efficient mechanism and practice for public participation in environmental decision-making process in accordance to the provision of Aarhus Convention. The main output is Municipal Program for Air Quality Management of Bourgas municipality, elaborated with active participation of citizens.



09/2002 – 03/2004 Sustainable Journey Project financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, programme Matra. The aim of the project is to promote sustainable lifestyle patterns in Bourgas, Bulgaria and Constantza, Romania and to stimulate and inspire the citizen groups to apply them; in conjunction with local artist and cultural groups to develop artworks that visualise sustainable communities; and to build a network of Eco-Teams in both cities.

GBF is a partner to Uzunkopru Muzaffer Atasay Anatolian High School, Uzunk?pr? Turkey. The aims of project are to achieve knowledge of 60 Bulgarian and Turkey student and local peoples from Uzunkopru and Bourgas in field of Euro integrations, EU institutions , Project management and Environment protections.GBF will educate students for project Management of EU funded project for environment protections .GBF is responsible for all the activities which are planned to take place in Bulgarian side. It support the project operational and trainer team in all required contacts (such as arranging a meeting hall and contacting the trainers) as well as devoting a room for the project teams. Organization will also contribute to the communication and coordination between two partners and provide all the needed information for the project. The organization will support promotional activities on the Bulgarian side and make contributions to the dissemination and visibility of the projects, as well as contributions to the sustainability of the project outcomes in the Bulgarian side after the end of project duration (by the help of its relations with local people and organizations).As an overall contribution to the project, past experince of the Foundation and its willing to share this experience is meriterious.

The project partnership is made of 6 institutions from the countries: Italy, Romania, Belgium, Bulgaria, Slovenia and Lithuania (coordinating partner). The general motivation and interest of partnering institutions lies in their core activities that are closely related to non-formal or informal adult education, particularly in the rural areas, with major aim to broaden the access of local people to more active social inclusion, to new local the labour markets or to providing them with alternative entrepreneurship opportunities. The partners share the idea that gained knowledge and skills can enhance peoples livelihoods and this way contribute to overall sustainable rural development and environment protection in those countries. Equally, partner institutions wish to increase their professional knowledge in providing quality educational services for adult learners, to share intercultural values and increase EU integration. The countries represent a different level of economic strength and EU cohesion - there are two old EU member states, two later members, and two very recent EU member states. This way the Partnership will contain a wide variety of experiences with regards to approaches and practices in adult education and involvement in sustainable development of rural areas Greener Bourgas Foundation lead all activities in Bulgaria, made a motilities and take active part in preparation of outputs. innovative educational guidelines, project internet site with actively moderated discussion forum, quarterly newsletters, CD of best communities’ practices. Project will develop its monitoring and evaluation method to be applied to all project events and results.

Partners:Univercity “Prof. d-r Asen Zlatarov”, Bourgas, 5 secondary schools in Bourgas, Sredetz and Nesebar, Euro Corner;

Duration: eight month, September 2009 – May, 2010;

Greener Bourgas Foundation and Alumni of IVSP of Department of State, Venelin Todorov, involved youths between 18-25 years in the last course in Burgas, Nesebar and Sredets schools as well as students from “Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov” University-city of Burgas and got them acquainted with the problem “Global warming” and “Climate change”, its origin, impact and measures undertaken by UNO, USA, EU, countries, institutions and organizations to reduce greenhouse gases emissions, as well as with political documents and strategies adopted and everyday actions of each individual. In the framework of the project youths gain knowledge about renewable energy sources, pure industry, sustainable urban planning and construction, greenhouse gases storage and utilization, the policy of local authorities, countries and EU in this field. Through the presentations of alumni and Greener Bourgas Foundation on the topic and questionnaires elaborated young people receive information and acquire knowledge on the problem. During the implementation students and pupils learned about the decisions of COP 15 in Copenhagen, the political declaration and meetings of COP 16 to be held in Bon and Mexico in 2010. Certificates of attendance were given to the participants from the Romance languages Secondary school „ G.S. Rakovski”- city of Burgas, the General Secondary School “Lyuben Karavelov”- town of Nesebar and “Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov” University-city of Burgas. Young volunteers ecologists Council was established to the Greener Bourgas Foundation.

Greener Bourgas Foundation supports The European Centre for Eco Agro Tourism, Amsterdam, Netherlands and Povvik–mec. -BV Management and Environment to organize activities in Bourgas Regions organizing meetings, seminars, public awareness for sustainable coastal management and rural development. GBF assist in preparations of case study for vision of sustainable development of Region “Strandja” and reported it in final workshop in town of Varna.

For fulfilling EU waste management and environment protection requests, it is necessary that several municipalities joint for common SWM.Investment plan for the SWM strategies encloses as one central part the establishment of a central landfill site in the region Burgas This is necessary as well to afford in future the costs for investments and operation of the SWM facilities. GBF supports LA and contractors to assume landfill development concept, landfill operation, operational costs and remedial measures and to identify legal identity of new regional landfill in Bratowo served nine Municipaity with more of 500 000 inhabitants, to prepare document for fegistration to the Regional court of legal entity , to indentify and determine the position of new regional landfill, and organise public discussion of municipal waste management progtrame.Greener Bourgas Foundation support Local Authorities involved into project like apllicant for Operatiuonal Programme “Environment “ leaded by Ministry of Environment Protection and Water, Managing Authority of operational Programme to prepare needed documents.

Greener Bourgas Foundation supports The Babaeski Trade Exchange, Turkey to prepare applications papers and assist BTE educate its members for sustainable rural development and organizing markets by EU manner. GBF organize study visit of Turkish partner in Bourgas Regions to arise capacity for sustainable and environment friendly agriculture production and market according EU directives.



STREAM – Sustainable Tourism and Recreation as an Opportunity to Promote Alternative Mobility;

Partner: Traject, Belgium Union of Bulgarian Black Sea Municipalities

STREAM is a mobility management project aiming at promoting more energy efficient transport behavior through the development of new transport solutions and well targeted campaigning.It aims more specifically at traffic related to "soft" tourism and recreation, with the focus on open spaces, also using these sectors of transportation demand as an opportunity for awareness raising about sustainable mobility in general:

GBF supports Union of Bulgarian Black Sea Municipalities in:

-Organization of public consultations;

- Adaptation of the plans according to the results of the public hearings;

- Presentation of the pilot plans before the Standing Committees on Energy Efficiency with the District Governors of Varna, Bourgas and Dobrich;

- Creation of a general dissemination campaign (national or regional) creating the link between “soft mobility” and “soft recreation” and putting forward the benefits of sustainable mobility in every day life (partner involvement on behalf of the National Association of Municipalities in the Republic of Bulgaria and the other regional municipal associations, as well as the regional and national mass media);

- Promotion of a “sustainable transport” promotion package for the international tourists, residing in the Bulgarian Black Sea region (distributed via the regional tour operators).
