Venue The SEWF2012 venue is a social enterprise itself! The Centro Cultural A??o da Cidadania is operated by A??o da Cidadania, a leading Brazilian community
organization dedicated to overcoming hunger and poverty. The vast,
historic building was built in 1871 as a storage facility on the
waterfront docks of Rio, and renovated in 2002. The Centro is located in Rio's historic waterfront port area - currently
the largest urban redevelopment project in Latin America.
Social Enterprise Site Visits - Tuesday, October 16 We currently have an exciting and diverse selection of seven pre-Forum
site visits available on the morning and afternoon of Tuesday, October
16, for you to see the innovative work of social enterprises in/around
Rio de Janeiro. Visit social enterprises in Rocinha, one of Rio's
largest favela communities; or visit an eco-tourism enterprise in
Tijuca, Rio's majestic urban forest; or meet local artisans in Rio's
Alem?o community followed by a panoramic gondola ride. All of the site
visits will challenge and inspire you! Space is limited to 20-30 delegates for each site visit, so register early.
