The Arete Fellowship Program

We are happy to announce a new international program - the Arete Youth Fellowship Program.

The fellowship will be a highly-selective, international program that supports inspirational and aspirational young Roma throughout the world who are seeking to excel in their respective field of interest. Through this program we hope to provide an important platform for our fellows while supporting their development and access to opportunities.

Our first fellow - Cristiana Grigore from Romania - exemplifies our organizational aspirations for the fellowship. Cristiana is a Roma Fulbright scholar who recently received a Masters degree in International Education Policies and Management from Vanderbilt University. She will be spending the next six-months as a visiting scholar at the Hannah Arendt Center for Politics and Humanities at Bard College.

Cristiana has written op-eds in the New York Times and the International Herald Tribune and has a unique perspective on changing negative perceptions of Roma/Gypsies. In addition to continuing her graduate studies, she hopes to continue to write and create a new social dynamic in the global Roma community.

We are currently seeking funding for her living expenses while at Bard.

As a supporter of Cristiana at any financial level, you will have unprecedented access to her experience as she explores her writings and ideas. This will include monthly emails and conference calls where Cristiana will discuss her progress and experience to date.

As an Angel Supporter ($1,000 or more), Cristiana will find time throughout her process to meet individually (by phone or in person to those in the New York City area) and encourage an interactive conversation.

We hope that you can find time to learn more about Cristiana and her aspirational journey to impact her community and our world.
