Nigeria: Cultural Bites x Multi Kulti Kitchen
28 март 2024 г.
The African-Caribbean Cultural Center, at the Department of African Studies and Indo-Pacific Studies, at Sofia University, in partnership with Multi Kulti Collective and the medical students from the African-Caribbean Society, are pleased to invite you to join an exciting event that will promote Nigerian culture and cuisine!
In March, we have a whole team of hosts from Nigeria, who will introduce us to the culture of their homeland through delicious food, a lecture and an interesting discussion!
Our hosts, Andrea Oguntade, Precious Taiwo, Joseph Eigbefoh, Yesmin Bankole and Simisola are medical students at the Medical University of Sofia and members of the African-Caribbean Society (ACS) at the Medical University of Sofia.
Our chefs will show us how to prepare some of the most popular and delicious dishes from Nigeria. After we cook together, our speakers will "walk" us through the ancient and modern history and culture of Nigeria, as we sample their delicious "cultural bites".
Our meetup is divided into consecutive sessions:
1️⃣ We will start with a cooking session with our chefs, who will teach us how to prepare 4 typical Nigerian dishes (14:00 - 15:30, 10 people max). There will be vegetarian options too. Please, register here - https://forms.gle/6Lt3sTYdW1kyrn8Z9
2️⃣ After the cooking we invite you to join our cultural programme: a lecture, discussion and food tasting (16:00 - 18:00, 40 people max). Please, register here - https://forms.gle/Bsmsr1hf4mQq6g6x8
‼️ IMPORTANT: If you wish to attend both parts, you need to register for BOTH.
⏰ When: 31 March 2024 (Sunday), 14:00 for the cooking session, and 16:00 for the cultural event
Where: Salted Café Sofia, 38 Bratya Miladinovi Str.
‼️ The event is offered free of charge; however, registration is compulsory (please refer to the links above).
The event will be held in English.
Come vibe with us. Learn the culture. Taste the food. Be a part of this super intercultural event!

"Cultural Bites" is an initiative of the Department of African Studies and the African-Caribbean Cultural Center at Sofia University, which aims to present "bites" of the cuisine, culture, and history of various African and Caribbean countries, both to students and to the wider Bulgarian community. audience. Through these exciting cultural and culinary journeys, we want to promote and celebrate cultural diversity and create cross-cultural connections and friendships.
The event is also part of the Multi Kulti Kitchen initiative which has been fostering two-way integration and diversity by presenting foreign cultures and cuisines since 2011. It has been recognized as best practice at the national and EU levels, including by the European Commission and European Cultural Foundation in Amsterdam, among others. Since 2015, such local events have been organized all across the country as a social franchise.
