Chasing the Future: Why Physics Breakthroughs Are Always 30 Years Away

English Language Café and Multi Kulti Collective are pleased to invite you to “Chasing the Future: Why Physics Breakthroughs Are Always 30 Years Away,” a presentation and English language exchange event.

Our host, Krasimir, is a physicist who is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at Sofia University. His general interests lie in Plasma Technology, Nuclear Fusion, and the numerical modeling of physical phenomena. He also has a background in engineering and IT, which allows him to see the differences in approaches taken and the goals achieved.

Krasimir says: “In this talk, I will attempt to respond to the question that the general public often asks: ‘Why does modern physics seem to be stagnant, and why does the next big breakthrough always seem to be 30 years away?’ Is this indeed the case? I will explain what the general struggles are and the novel discoveries that disprove that perception! Is it more difficult to approach a problem as our questions become more complex, or is it a deeper problem rooted in the philosophy of science? Additionally, I intend to present a brief summary of what we have achieved in the field of Nuclear Fusion and the challenges that seem insurmountable.”

After the lecture, we will enjoy ELC’s bartender’s signature lemonade and spend approximately one hour speaking in small groups as part of our English language exchange.

Join us to get inspired, learn something new, practice your English, and meet lovely people from all over the world!
